The Port
The Port of Virginia’s central location
on the East Coast makes it the best choice for
companies needing to service markets to the North,
South, and Midwest. Destinations such as Chicago,
Columbus, Buffalo, Detroit, Memphis, Louisville,
Charlotte, and Savannah, just to name a few, are
all accessible within 1-2 days or less by truck.
And with 50 (and soon to be 55) foot obstruction
free channels and only 18 miles to the open sea,
it is likely that your preferred ocean carrier
makes call at the Port of Virginia. Vessels representing
over ninety-five percent of the world’s
leading shipping lines make The Port of Virginia
a preferred port of call. During the 40 + years
that NWDC has been in business, we have developed
a close working partnership with the marketing
and operating units of the port. We capitalize
on this important relationship to provide more
communication and efficient services to our customers.
Location
NWDC’s facilities are centrally located
in close proximity to the Port. Our location to
the Port of Virginia, at Interstate 64 and Tidewater
Drive, allows for 10-30 minute transit times to
and from all three Port of Virginia terminals
(Norfolk International Terminal, Portsmouth Marine
Terminal, and Newport News Marine Terminal), Lambert's
Point Docks, and all other major waterside, rail,
and land terminals in Hampton Roads. Whether you
need a strategic point to place a buffer stock
or need to develop a daily distribution strategy
to complete your supply chain needs, NWDC has
the location at the fastest growing and most centrally
located port on the East Coast to do just that.
